The Bachelor of Information Technology (Visual Media) (Hons) programme is specially designed to nurture and create creative-technocrats, with a focus on the broader study of all digital media applications, imparting the technical skills used in designing and editing digital media. This unique programme bridges the technology realm and the world of creative digital arts. This link enables students to develop expressive artistic work as ramifications of using state-of-the-art computing technology. This one of a kind undergraduate programme combines studies in IT, digital arts practice and the exploration of new media in the 21st century.

The programme establishes a progressive journey beginning from the realms of fundamental IT with subjects like, software development, networking and web design, databases and programming; towards the creative media’s domain such as history of art, the social and cultural applications of digital media, typography, storyboarding, computer animations, digital game design and development, 2D design, and 3D modelling.

This unique mix of courses will empower students with the knowledge and skills needed in producing their own creative digital media contents, hence pushing the boundaries of traditional IT disciplines and creative visual media: “Where digital art meets computing technology”.

120 credit hours of subjects are being taught in nine semesters. This Bachelor of Information Technology (Visual Media) (Hons) programme can be completed in 3 years.

Entry Requirements:

For Malaysian Students:

  • Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM): Pass STPM with minimum Grade C (CGPA 2.00) in any 2 subjects and credit (Grade C) in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent.
  • A-Level: Pass A-Level programme.
  • Matriculation: Pass Matriculation with minimum CGPA of 2.00 and credit (Grade C) in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent.
  • Foundation: Pass Foundation in related field with minimum CGPA of 2.00 and credit (Grade C) in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent.
  • Diploma: Pass Diploma in related & other field with minimum CGPA of 2.50 and credit (Grade C) in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent.
    Related Field – Diploma in Computer Science / Software Engineering / Information Technology / Information System and equivalent.
    Other Field – Diploma in Science & Technology / Business Studies
  • (DVM) Diploma Vocational Malaysia: Pass DVM programme in related field with minimum CGPA of 2.50 or its equivalent and complete SVM (Sijil Vokasional Malaysia) with minimum of:1) An Academic Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.00 or higher;
    2) A Vocational CGPA of 2.67 or higher and competent in all vocational modules;
    3) A credit in Bahasa Melayu (SVM 1104).For 2013-2016 cohorts, students also need to get an exemption from obtaining a pass grade for Sejarah (Kod 1251) at SPM level.
  • UEC (Unified Examination Certificate): Pass UEC with minimum of Grade B in any 5 subjects including Mathematics.
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB): Pass IB Diploma programme.
  • HND(UK) Diploma: Pass HND in related field with minimum CGPA 2.00.
  • SAM / SACE / WACE / VCE / TEE / AUSMAT: Pass SAM / SACE / WACE / VCE / TEE / AUSMAT/Australian Capital Territory (Year 12).
  • Others: Other equivalent qualifications recognised by Government of Malaysia.
  • Note : Candidates without credit but pass (minimum Grade E) in Mathematics at SPM level or equivalent maybe admitted if latest qualification contains Mathematics.

English Requirements:

  • For Malaysian Students: Malaysian students may enrol without MUET. However, students are required to complete MUET during duration of study (before graduation). IELTS (5.0 and above) or TOEFL (500 and above) or TOEFL Internet Based Test (42 and above) is also accepted.
  • MUET – Malaysia University English Test
    Achieve Band 1 and above
  • For International Students: International students are required to have one of the English proficiency score stated below to enrol in UNITEN. Bachelor students who do not fulfill this English requirement are required to sit for the Intensive English Programme (IEP) and pass the requirement below before starting their Bachelor programme.
  • MUET – Malaysia University English Test: Achieve Band 3 and above
  • IELTS – International English Language Testing System: Achieve 5.0 and above
  • TOEFL – Test of English as a Foreign Language
    Achieve 500 (TOEFL) or 42 (TOEFL Internet Based Test) and above
