UNITEN is the pioneer for the education of now and the future that suits the demand of the world market workforce like Economics (Energy) – among the first in Malaysia and the world which offers a strong understanding in economics and energy.

The Department of Energy Business offers the Bachelor of Economics (Energy) (Hons.) degree program. This degree program is introduced to equip students with a strong knowledge in economics and energy that suits the demand of the market workforce. The program is designed to expose students to the specific aspects of the economics discipline and the energy sector. Upon completion of the program, graduates are expected to have a firm and thorough understanding of the principles and roles of economics in the energy sector to be applied in the business and corporate environment. The courses offered are being specifically structured to equip students with strong theoretical and practical knowledge in economics and energy before they can embark on to the real world of energy service sectors or pursue their studies.

This Bachelor of Business Economics (Hons) programme is 3 years or 9 semesters.

Entry Requirements

Academic Requirements:

For Malaysian Students:

  • Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM): A pass in STPM or its equivalent, with a minimum Grade C in any 2 subjects, and Pass SPM with Credits in Bahasa Melayu and Pass in Mathematics and Bahasa Inggeris at SPM level.
  • Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM): Pass STAM with a minimum grade of Jayyid (taken within 2 years prior to application); and Credit in Bahasa Melayu and Pass in Mathematics and Bahasa Inggeris in SPM Level.
  • A-Level: Pass A-Level with a minimum of 2.00 or Grade C in 2 subjects and Pass.
  • Matriculation: A pass in Matriculation qualification or its equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and Pass SPM with Credit in Bahasa Melayu in SPM Level.
  • Foundation: A pass in Foundation qualification or its equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.00, and credits in Bahasa Melayu in SPM Level.
  • Diploma: Pass Diploma with a minimum CGPA of 2.00, and credits in Bahasa Melayu in SPM level.
  • UEC (Unified Examination Certificate): A pass in UEC with a minimum Grade B in any 5 subjects.
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB): A pass in IB with minimum of 30 points
  • HND(UK) Diploma: Pass HND in related field with minimum CGPA 2.00.
  • SAME/WACE/AUSMAT: Pass South Australian Matriculation (SAM) and South Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT) with 70%, or South Australia Certificate of Education (SACE) and Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) with Band 2 in 2 subjects.
  • Others: Other equivalent qualifications recognised by the Government of Malaysia.

English Requirements:

  • For Malaysian Students: Malaysian students may enrol without MUET. However, students are required to complete MUET during duration of study (before graduation). IELTS (5.0 and above) or TOEFL (500 and above) or TOEFL Internet Based Test (42 and above) is also accepted.
  • MUET – Malaysia University English Test: Achieve Band 1 and above
  • For International Students: International students are required to have one of the English proficiency score stated below to enrol in UNITEN. Bachelor students who do not fulfill this English requirement are required to sit for the Intensive English Programme (IEP) and pass the requirement below before starting their Bachelor programme.
  • MUET – Malaysia University English Test: Achieve Band 3 and above
  • IELTS – International English Language Testing System: Achieve 5.5 and above
  • TOEFL – Test of English as a Foreign Language: Achieve 500 (TOEFL) or 46 (TOEFL Internet Based Test) and above
