The Department was established in 1985, after the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering began to take in undergraduate students for the Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) programme in 1984. Since then the Department has progressed tremendously in the three core services: teaching, research and professional services. The programme had been accredited by the accreditation body throughout. Throughout the years, the programme has been reviewed once in every five-year period, to update the contents to keep up with the development in the civil engineering industry both nationally and internationally. For the current study scheme 2016-2020, three Program Educational Objectives (PEO) has been designed to produce engineers who are:
Knowledgeable and competent in the field of civil engineering, and have the appropriate skills and attitude to work in the industry.
Creative and innovative, and also sensitive and responsible to the society, cultures and environment.
Capable to work in advanced design and development at national and international levels.
