Overview

Planning and development economics programme (HE05) aims to nurture innovative, resilient and universally responsible economists (planning & development economists) to support national aspiration of becoming a developed and high income nation.

Entry Requirements

Matriculation/ Foundation

  • Pass ‘Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia’ (SPM) / equivalent and distinction Bahasa Melayu / Bahasa Malaysia or July Paper Bahasa Melayu / Bahasa Malaysia; and
  • Pass Matriculation MoE / UM Science Foundation / UiTM Science Foundation with at least CGPA 2.00;and at least Band 2 Malaysia University English Test (MUET)

STPM

  • Pass ‘Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia’ (SPM)/equivalent with at least Grade E/8E in Mathematics; and
  • Pass ‘Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia’ (STPM)/equivalent with at least CGPA 2.00 and at least:
    • Grade C (NGMP 2.00) in Economics/ Business Studies/ Accounting/ Mathematics(M) , and
    • Grade C in two other subjects, and at least Band 2 Malaysia University English Test (MUET)

STAM

  • Pass ‘Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia’ (SPM) / equivalent with at least Grade E/8E in Mathematics ; and
  • Pass with at least Jayyid in STAM; and at least Band 2 Malaysia University English Test (MUET)

Diploma

  • Hold a Diploma /equivalent recognized by the Malaysian Government and approved by the University Senate; or
  • Pass ‘Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia’ (SPM) / equivalent with at least Grade E/8E in Mathematics; and
  • Pass at least Band 2 Malaysia University English Test (MUET)

 

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

  1. Higher Certificate of Education (STPM) or GCE ‘A’ Level or equivalent: –
    • A pass in GCE ‘O’ Level or its equivalent;
    • A pass in the STPM of GCE ‘A’ Level or Higher School Certificate (HSC) or its equivalent with
      at least grade C in any THREE (03) subjects;
    • A pass in Cambridge International Examination Test at least grade B; or
    • Exceptions for English speaking country which is stated in MQA qualifications; – or
    • Exceptions for school/institute/college that uses English as the official language for learning
      and teaching; -or) English Proficiency:

      • Malaysian University English Test (MUET): Minimum Band 3 or-
      • Test of English as A Foreign Language;
        – Paper Test: Minimum Score 500 points or
        – Computer Test: Minimum Score 213 points or
        – Internet Test: Minimum Score 79 points – or-
      • International English Language Testing System (IELTS): Minimum score 5.0 – or
      • Any other English equivalent qualification recognized by Universiti Malaysia Sabah.
  2. Foundation or Diploma or its equivalent
