Overview

Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education) (Hons) is a course aimed at providing the skills needed to engage children in creative ways including through communication and play. The areas of study prepare students to enter the teaching profession in early childhood centres or preschools and also other rewarding career options that involve working with young minds.

Programme Entry Requirements

You must meet the following requirements in order to be considered for entry to the UNITAR Bachelor’s Programme:

  • Pass STPM or its equivalent with a minimum of Grade C (PNG 2.00) in two (2) subjects;  OR
  • Pass STAM with a minimum of Grade Jayyid OR
  • Pass UEC with minimum Grade B in five 5 Subjects OR
  • Pass Matriculation/ Foundation or its equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.00; OR
  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education or its equivalent minimum CGPA of 2.00;  OR
  • Pass any Diploma or its equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.00;  OR
  • Pass BTEC Level 4 & 5 and pass SPM with at least three (3) credits in any subjects (or its equivalent); OR
  • Any other equivalent qualifications recognized by the Malaysian Government

For applications into the Bachelor’s programmes (level 6, MQF) through APEL, must be a Malaysian citizen aged more than 21 years of age in the year of application with relevant work experience/ prior experiential learning and passed APEL assessment.

English Requirements

LOCAL STUDENTS

Malaysian students who enroll in UNITAR Bachelor programmes must fulfill the following English proficiency requirements:

  • Students who have a distinction in English Language at the SPM/SPMV level are not required to take additional English courses.
  • Students who have credit in English Language at the SPM/SPMV level are required to take additional English courses. (Refer to the table below for placement purposes.)
  • Students who do not have a credit in English Language at the SPM/SPMV level are required to take the English Enhancement Programme before registering for their Faculty courses. (An internal assessment could be arranged with the HOD Language and General Studies.)
  • Students from a different institution are required to apply for exemption if they studied any English courses. (Students are encouraged to attach the syllabus of the courses they have taken in the previous instituition.)
